OPPORTUNITY: Festival Producer

The Youth Infringement Festival is seeking a Festival Producer for the 2022-2023 season. Interested applicants should submit a resume and letter of introduction to the General Manager at gm@youthinfringement.ca. Contract Dates: Flexible work between Aug 23, 2022 and March 31, 2023. Must be fully available during the weeks of the Festival (March 7-10 and 14-17, 2023).

Remuneration: $15/h, 10-15 hours a week

Reports to: General Manager 


The Producers will:

  • Work collaboratively to ensure the success of the Festival, including but not limited to: attending regular production meetings and keeping good communication;

  • Maintain contact with the General Manager by attending at minimum monthly check-in sessions throughout the process and bring forward any concerns that may arise;

  • Coordinate all Festival logistics and ancillary events, including but not limited to: venue coordination, production coordination, artist and volunteer management, and professional development opportunities;

  • Work collaboratively with the Outreach & Communications Coordinator to create promotional and marketing materials, including but not limited to: graphics for the website and social media, flyers, posters, a press release and other related documents;

  • Be present for the entirety of the festival to greet patrons, prepare and give host speeches, support box office and concessions sales officers, and be prepared to answer general festival questions;

  • Prepare reports and assist with grant writing and other support as needed.

Note: Producers may not participate in that year’s Festival in any other capacity (actor,

playwright, director, stage manager, designer).

The ideal Candidate would be/have:

  • An emerging arts administrator who has completed high school or equivalent;

  • A desire to build and improve leadership skills;

  • An interest in arts management, theatre and/or live performing arts;

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills;

  • A resident of Ottawa/Gatineau or a surrounding area;

  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset but is not required.

The Youth Infringement Festival is seeking TWO Festival Administrators for the summer of 2022. These positions are funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program with the Government of Canada. In accordance with this program, the candidates must be 30 years of age or under during the position.

Contract Dates: ASAP to the end of July 2022. This position has the potential to grow into a part-time position (5-10h a week) during the year until April 2023.

Remuneration: $ 15.00/h at 30h/week

Reports to: General Manager 

The Administrators will:

  • Work collaboratively with the General Manager to create an implement an outreach strategy for the 2022-2023 season;

  • Coordinate 6-10 workshops for existing and new Community Partners;

  • Aid the General Manager with communications tasks such as social media management and drafting newsletters;

  • Maintain contact with the General Manager by attending biweekly check-in sessions.

The ideal Candidate would be/have:

  • A desire to build and improve leadership skills;

  • An interest in arts management, theatre and/or live performing arts;

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills;

  • A resident of Ottawa or a surrounding area;

  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset but is not required.

We're looking for local visual artists aged 16-25 who are interested in showcasing their artwork (photography, painting, drawings, sculptures) during our 2022 Festival, taking place at Arts Court Theatre. To submit your work, please email youthinfringementfestival@gmail.com with a short artist bio and links to examples of your work, if possible! We are open to any family-friendly theme.

The Youth Infringement Festival (YIF) is seeking their next General Manager! Are you a self-starter interested in gaining artistic leadership with a long-running not-for-profit youth festival? We want you!

Remuneration: $6,500/year (approx. 5h a week) permanent with yearly board review

Reports to: Board of Directors

Annual Festival Dates: March (must be available)

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador for the organization year-round and ensure the organization achieves its mandate;

  • Manage a team of 3;

  • Oversee long-term organizational goals;

  • Partnership development;

  • Research potential funding sources including foundations and grants;

  • Research, write, and report on municipal, provincial, and federal grants;

  • Work with the bookkeeper that the necessary paperwork is submitted in a timely manner;

  • Liaise with Arts Court/Ottawa Fringe Festival for space bookings;

  • Oversee the Festival timeline and ensure deadlines are being met;

  • Social media management and website updates;

  • Process payroll;

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable;

  • Write agreements for independent contractors and volunteers;

  • Liaise with the Board of Directors.

Call for Board Members

What are we looking for?

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of local youth? Are you passionate about accessible arts-based education? Do you believe youth have distinct voices and perspectives that should be amplified within our community? Then we want you! 

There are currently three vacant positions on our board of directors. We are searching for individuals with backgrounds in: human resources, fundraising, and governance.

Time commitment:

  • 4-6 board meeting per calendar year

  • New members are encouraged to join committees of interest to their field, which meet 4-6 times throughout the year. Committees include: fundraising, finance and audit, outreach, human resources, and governance
