Call for Scripts and Proposals

Call for Scripts and Proposals

We are currently accepting applications to our Playwrights’ Lab and Devising Mentorship.

Playwrights’ Lab

In the Playwrights’ Lab, groups of up to six writers work with a mentor in individual and group sessions to workshop a one-act play. Upon completion of the Lab, these plays may then be directed by a participant in our Directing Mentorship and produced at our annual festival in the spring. To apply to the Playwrights’ Lab, we accept completed first drafts, partial first drafts (10 pages or more), and proposals (proposals may include a text sample or just a description of the intended project.

As the Playwrights’ Lab supports our other theatre mentorships, we are unable to accept proposals for film projects, short stories or other non-script formats (that are not part of a pitch to adapt them), non-original works (those for which the person/people submitting do not have the rights), or works longer than one act.

Devising Mentorship

In the Devising Mentorship, artists are paired with a mentor and create a new work together. Artists may apply individually to be paired with a full team, with a partial group seeking additional team members, or as a full group seeking a mentor.

If you are seeking to create a piece that is not created collectively, but which also falls outside of the playwriting mentorship (eg. dance theatre, performance installation, or anything else!) or you have a question about where your idea would fit into our mentorship programs, send us an email at info@youthinfringement.ca
